Prado del Rey - vista del pueblo blanco desde un monte
Prado del Rey is a picturesque town which forms part of the Route of the White Villages in Andalusia. Prado del Rey is situated in the province Cádiz between Jerez and Ronda in a mountainous landscape up to 1600 metres high. Its favourable situation in between two natural parks Parque Natural Sierra de Grazalema and Parque Natural Los Alcornocales offers a wide variety of outdoor activities such as trekking, mountain biking, horseback riding (Andalusian horses), canoeing, climbing and paragliding.
With its 6.500 inhabitants Prado del Rey is an animated town especially on the weekends and during the fairs such as the Semana Santa at Easter, Romería de San Isidrio in May, the Velada in July and the Feria de Septiembre in September. Downtown you will find various cafés to drink a coffee in the sun. The famous tapas and the typical meat and fish dishes of the Sierra de Cádiz are a must.
We also recommend visiting the imposing cities nearby such as Sevilla, Jerez, Ronda, Cádiz or Granada. We are sure you will enjoy the city tour and lunch or dinner in a typical restaurant.
The climate of the "Sierra de Cádiz" provides you with 300 days of sunshine a year, mostly warm to hot and dry from March to September. However, the fall winds from the mountains bring refreshment especially in the evenings. The Andalusians are very hospitable and open-minded to foreigners.
